Funds for hospitals

Hospitals were a major pillar in the fight against the corona pandemic.

Within the framework of the COVID-19 Hospital Relief Act (Krankenhausentlastungsgesetz) , the BVA Aid Department paid a lump sum of 50 euros for each patient under the allowance when settling hospital bills during a limited period. The amount served as compensation for the higher costs of the protection measures. In the area of the nursing charge value for the settlement of nursing costs, too, the special situation and the associated higher expenses in hospital nursing were responded to by increased flat rates.

Thus, we in the BVA also made payments based on this new legal basis that benefit the hospitals. Our Aid Department was responsible for this task. The aid was intended as financial support in cases of illness, birth, nursing care and death for German civil servants, soldiers and professional judges, their children and, under certain conditions, their spouses or partners.

However, self-employed doctors and dentists working in their own practices were also indirectly supported by the aid, as higher costs for the treatment of corona patients or for additional protective measures were reimbursed.

To ensure psychotherapeutic care, it was permitted for psychotherapy sessions to be conducted via video consultation. Costs incurred for this were of course eligible for aid. Even therapeutic measures such as physiotherapy or voice, speech and language therapy could be offered via video.

The aid was processed quickly and unbureaucratically in this particular situation. The BVA thus continued to be a reliable partner for the group of people concerned.
